From invites to thank you cards and all in between, your stationery is your guests first glimpse of the party which awaits them! A quick email sent to a friend implies a very informal gathering, but a gorgeous embossed card, designed with obvious care and effort taken to produce, will give out a completely different message.
Your stationery is where you can promote your colour and theme choices, or the tone of your event. A quirky childlike cartoon will imply a fun and frivolous party whereas an invite made from thick quality card with simple instructions will denote a mature and classy event.
As well as informing your guests of the basic essentials; the time, date and place of your party, your invitations can also include any special instructions, such as ‘This is a surprise party, please don’t let Sandra know anything about it” or “No gifts please. Donations can be made to the RSPCA”. The invites should also state any applicable dress code, and should, if appropriate, include details of local guest accommodation. Thank you cards should continue the same design, and should be handwritten. Individually signing each card may take time, but your guests really will appreciate the effort! You really can’t underestimate the personal touch. Spending that little bit extra on a handmade design or having your stationery personally customised by a professional calligrapher can make all the difference and really give your stationery that WOW factor!
